Studio Profile
California Middle School in the Sacramento City Unified School District is the site of a quickly growing, dynamic SEVA Studio. At this middle school, students have the opportunity to participate in a media program which takes place in and out of the classroom. On a normal day you can find students out around the school capturing various footage for their videos or working diligently in the studio to edit the pieces together. No matter what part of the production process students are in they all are encouraged to create a video that shares their voice in a creative way that might help others see them in a new light. Students learn to work individually and as a team on various projects. Although they have some work to do before they reach their goal of a live broadcast, they are well on their way to learning the necessary skills for such a challenge.

SEVA Teacher Rebecca Long
Rebecca Long of Cal Middle School is one of those unique teachers that seems to truly understand the tool that media can be for students. Ms. Long helps students focus on sharing their voice in an environment that they feel safe in. She focuses on the positive in the classroom and is always looking to the future for new opportunities to share with her students. Ms. Long is a dynamic part of the SEVA Teacher community and is always eager to share what has worked in her classroom and learn from others in the community. Ms. Long believes that she can give her students the skills they need to create video but it is up to them to determine what their voice is and what style they will use to share that voice. Each year she is excited to see students finding new unique ways that set them apart from others.
