Using a BESTNet connection, United States astronauts aboard the International Space Station beamed live into Elliott Ranch Elementary School on the morning of Wednesday, August 27, 2014, for a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) downlink. Elliott Ranch Elementary is one of two elementary schools in the nation to have been selected for the NASA downlink thus far this year.
Twelve students had the opportunity to pose questions to the astronauts while the entire school watched them demonstrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics concepts in ways that are impossible on Earth.
This exciting event is just one of several components that the school has implemented with the support of their parent community to increase their focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) this year.
