How different are Japan and America? Is Japan more than ancient rice fields and neon splashed cityscapes? In January 2017 ARC alum John Ostermiller, now a Masters Candidate at the University of San Francisco, travelled to Japan as a guest of the Japanese government’s Kakehashi (bridge building) program. The objective of Kakehashi is to foster a better understanding of Japanese society and how both America and Japan can cooperate for a more a prosperous future. During the program, John’s delegation visited government agencies and businesses in the the cities of Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe, and Nara. At each location they discovered how intricate Japan’s relationship with the Pacific Region is, and what Japan is doing to contribute to its domestic and international stability. We invite to join us for the report of the USF delegations findings and how we can each enact positive change in the world today.
