On Tuesday, November 27, Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools David W. Gordon, Butte County Superintendent Tim Taylor, and District Superintendents Christopher R. Hoffman (EGUSD), Kent Kern (SJUSD), Dr. Sarah Koligian (FCUSD), and Scott Loehr (Center JUSD) announced a joint partnership to provide support to the thousands of Butte County students traumatized and displaced by the catastrophic Camp Fire.
They announced a “Sister Schools” effort in which Sacramento County students will connect with Butte County students through assemblies, visits, phone calls, Skype, or email and pen pal correspondence to offer comfort and establish personal relationships with Butte students who begin returning to class December 3. During assemblies and visits, Sacramento County students will deliver gifts, letters of support, as well as donations. This partnership will involve Sacramento County school student ambassadors and administrators connecting with Butte County students and continuing the relationships throughout the remainder of the school year.
