SEVA 2016 – PSA 7-8 Winner – The Not So Sweet Truth About Sugar
SEVA Award
Public Service Announcement (PSA): 7-8
Program Title: The Not So Sweet Truth About Sugar
Producers: Louis Gallia, Parker Bosley, Daniel Sullivan
School: Winston Churchill Middle School
Target Audience: Children and Teenagers
Program Idea: Our video was born out of a single question: how can we inform kids about the dangers of sugar? From there, we built off our idea, going through many different failed attempts. It started out as a PSA, then a documentary, and at one point, we were even toying with the idea of turning it into a how-to video, but eventually, we narrowed our choices down to one decision: a PSA. We determined to simply make and submit a PSA that quickly visually informs people about the dangers of excess sugar in a simple and understandable format.
Message: We want to teach people about the harmful amounts of sugar in common foods and drinks in an attempt to prevent uneducated children from creating unhealthy eating habits that will carry on into their adulthood.
