Program Title: Caged Bird

School: Franklin High School
Target Audience: Chinese and Chinese-American teens struggling with mental health challenges
Program Idea: This program came from the fact that many of my friends struggle with some form of mental illness. Although they need help, they are reluctant to seek it due to many Chinese parents brushing off mental illness. This creates a sense of shame among young people faced with these challenges, which I hope to break them free of with my animation.
Message: My program is intended to teach younger Chinese and Chinese-American audiences that they should not be ashamed of finding help when dealing with mental problems. Additionally, it teaches people who see others dealing with mental illness to get educated and reach out to help them.
