SEVA Honorable Mention
Creative Expression: 9-12
Program Title: Wander
Producer: Irene Adeline Milanez
School: Cosumnes Oaks High School
Target Audience: Teenagers who feel left out or out of place in school
Program Idea: I have always wanted to make a story about magic. The idea of creating a new world with new rules intimidated me. I then realized I could create a world with magic that was just like mine. Nora, the protagonist, of my story is a witch. She has a wand that gives her the ability to make potions, summon her breakfast, and even teleport. However, she still has to go to high school like everyone else. She is an unordinary teenager living through and ordinary life.
Message: Nora starts out the story very isolated from her peers. She avoids them at all costs to be with her magic. On the inside, Nora is scared of being different. She worried about opening up to others. By the end of the story, she realizes the people trying to reach out to her have always been like her. My film is about the importance and willingness to give others a chance. Friendship can be found in unexpected places.
