Target Audience: Teen/Young Adult Creators
Program Idea: Assigned in class to create a 5-7 minute documentary for C-SPAN on a provision of the Constitution and talk about how it affects our generation
Message: This documentary is a short overview on the US Constitution’s Intellectual Property Clause (Article 1, Section 8, Clause 8) and how it protects artist today. It includes the two protections the clause provides, how creative works are registered to have a copyright, what copyright infringement is, and the basics of fair use. Along with the insight of other creators and professionals, the documentary provides simple tips for creators and viewers to remember when dealing with creative works and how not to infringe other people’s rights.
