Program Idea
One of my family members suffers with a mental health challenge and has become very dependent on us. At times she has felt very alone and as if no one would understand her. Her experiences with her mental health inspired to take action and make a film to aware people of the sometimes unforeseen pain that someone might be dealing with.
Message
The educational message behind this piece is to shed light on the unfortunate reality of how much of ones mental health challenges constantly goes on beneath the surface and how some become scared or unsure how to go about dealing with their issues not knowing where and who to even confide too. I want to highlight however how necessary it is to reach out and talk to someone and not keep the pain trapped within. It is not easy but it something that could help relieve the agony felt and it will help others to better understand what one is going through. I also wanted to allow others to become more conscious and aware that a smile on ones face might not always mean that they are truly happy and we as a society need to be there lending that sense of comfort to someone in need.
