Program Idea: Voices, is a video that I wanted to create for myself and anyone else who is struggling to find out who they are and what their voice is. Since I was a freshman, I had difficulty in finding something that I was truly passionate about in school and in life. I played baseball for nine years, joined all kinds of clubs, taught myself how to draw, learned how to play the guitar, became a massive sports fan, and became infatuated with comic book characters; all things that I loved, but was truly never passionate about. It wasn’t until just over a year ago, that I found what created these elusive feelings of enthusiasm and eagerness within me: film and video. I express my creativity through stories, specifically visual storytelling, and the production of video allows me to express this creativity. In a way, this video is a tribute to the elective that made me realize my passion and serves as a visual reminder to me; a reminder of where it all started and how I found my voice.
Message: My goal in the creation of Voices, is to relate to those that have yet to find their passion and encourage them to continue searching. While the journey may be confusing, difficult, and absolutely terrifying; everyone has a voice and discovering that passion is certainly worth it. The world wants to hear what we have to say, we just have to find a way to say it.
