Educational Message: I wish to teach with my entry the humanity and earnest, genuine nature of immigration to a new country, as well as the story of my grandmother and so many others like her. In the media today, immigrants tend to be stripped of their humanity, unfortunately being antagonized or reduced to statistics. Because of this, I wanted to tell the story of my grandmother, as the culture shock she retells in the video not only captures the humanity and good nature of countless immigrants in pursuit of a new life, but it’s similar to so many others experiencing culture shock in similar, genuine, funny ways.
