About the SEVA Studio at Galt High School in the Galt Joint Union High School District:
GTV at Galt High School has been around for many years but received a restructure in 2017 with student managers at the helm. Brooke Beckett is the teacher advisor for GTV and is there to help support and give guidance when needed. The student managers are given the responsibility to step up and run the show as well as keep each other accountable while planning their episodes. The work of GTV has been so memorable that community members have reached out and requested the students record their events including dance performances, festivals and more.
Galt High School Students have really shown their passion for media and dream of being able to take what some call “a trip of a lifetime” to Los Angeles to tour studios and possibly see a taping of live television shows. These students are constantly learning and growing through their experiences with each other and have found a way to be leaders not only in their classroom but in their community as well.
About SEVA Studios:
The SEVA Studios are a joint project with SECC, the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission and school districts to create and encourage video production in schools with training opportunities and equipment assistance. Student created school news programs have regular air time on educational cable each week to highlight the use of the SEVA Studio Labs and share what’s going on at local schools.
