About the SEVA Studio at Will Rogers Middle School in the San Juan Unified School District:
The Mustang Morning News program at Will Rogers Middle School plays a very important role in keeping students and staff engaged in their school community. Students who participate in the Mustang Morning News are responsible for creating videos that, no matter the subject matter, reinforce the goals that every student in the school is expected to meet. In this way, these media students are directly responsible for creating the positive school community that can be felt at Will Rogers. With one of the smallest SEVA Studios, the Mustang Morning News team utilizes their small space and their equipment including lighting, microphones, camera, tripod and a teleprompter to learn as well as teach others on a daily basis.
The middle school students who participate in the media program at Will Rogers understand the impact media has at their school, and can see a path to continue that work in the future. Many students join the program each year in hopes of building on what students have been able to accomplish before them. The passion and creativity of these students is truly inspiring.
